Destination STEM Hopetown is a hands-on STEM exhibition as part of the celebrations of the bicentenary of the birth of the railways (which happened right here in Darlington) with an event full of exciting and engaging interactive STEM activities.

This event aims to encourage and inspire young people from Darlington and local schools in STEM subjects, and will be open to groups from state-funded schools:

• Primary - Years 5 & 6 - Tuesday 14th October (SOLD OUT)

• Secondary - Years 7 & 8 - Wednesday 15th October (SOLD OUT)

The event will involve around 40-50 businesses and organisations delivering hands-on activities, showcasing the wide range of careers and job roles available in the STEM sector.

Exhibitors will be invited to deliver fun, interactive sessions relating to their industry. Around 2000 young people aged from 10 - 13yrs from the region's schools are expected to attend the event across the 2 days.

This face-to-face event will be held at the 7-acre award-winning Visitor Experience - HOPETOWN Darlington. The whole site has been secured for the event to provide an access all areas, unique opportunity for schools to visit.

This event is free to attend due to the support from our sponsors, Cummins, Darlington Building Society, Wilmott Dixon, North East Stem Foundation (NESF), Husqvarna, KIER  and Darlington College.
