Our friends at The Northern Echo have produced an official commemorative bookazine and programme for the S&DR200 year of celebrations.
The publication, which is in conjunction with London North Eastern Railway is available at a special early bird price of £7.95 until the end of February!
The Northern Echo's special publication will look at how a rural corner of south Durham came to be the birthplace of the modern railway, and look at the truly ingenious characters - many of them from the Quaker town of Darlington - who were determined to overcome all obstacles that either nature, machinery or their opponents could throw in their way. Plus it will tell of the many events, including a re-enactment of that inaugural journey, that are planned for this historic year.
